Tigran Aydinyan joined the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics in October 2016. He obtained his Bachelor in Economics from the Yerevan State University. Tigran was a recipient of an Erasmus scholarship for full degree master studies in the University of Jena where he gained his Master’s in Economics. For his master thesis, he conducted an eyetracking experiment and analyzed the effect of human faces in crowdfunding videos on decisions of potential funders.

 

Main fields of interest: Experimental Economics, Applied Econometrics, Behavioral Economics, Neuroeconomics.

Kangkan Dev Choudhury obtained his Master’s Degree in Economics from the Center for Economic Studies and Planning, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.  He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India. He also holds a Master’s degree in business management from University of Delhi. He worked with Sesame Workshop India and Innovations Working Group (IWG-WHO) as a Research Consultant for healthcare related project between 2015 and 2016. Prior to that, he worked as an analyst for a learning outcomes-related project of Sesame Workshop and USAID. He has also worked with Tata Consultancy Services, India from 2012 to 2013.

Main fields of interest: Economic Networks, Immigration Economics, Auction Theory, and Mechanism Design.

Tileman Conring joined the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics in March 2016 as a Phd student at the Institute for Business and Social Statistics of Prof. Walter Krämer. Previously he obtained his Bachelor and Master in Physics at the ETH Zürich. During his Master studies, he specialized in the fields of Statistical and Computational Physics where he analyzed the properties of isoheights and isoclines on correlated surfaces in his thesis at the chair of Prof. Hans J. Herrmann. After having finished his physics degree, Tileman Conring continued at the ETH Zürich to further deepen his knowledge in mathematics, in particular focusing on financial mathematics, risk management, and statistics.

Pascal Goemans joined the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics in October 2016. He obtained his Bachelor and Master in Business Administration and Economics from TU Dortmund and spent a semester abroad at the Ramkhamhaeng University in Bangkok. In his master thesis he analyzed the influence of the development of financial systems on economic growth empirically. He worked as a student assistant at the chair of Economics (Macroeconomics) and as a tutor for Principles of Macroeconomics, Open Economy Macroeconomics and Econometrics.  He won the thyssenkrupp Manager Cup 2012.

Michael Jähn joined the RGS Econ in 2016. He completed his Bachelor’s degree at the University Münster in Political Science and Economics, focusing on Econometrics and Political Philosophy. He obtained an M.Sc. in Economics at Ruhr-University Bochum, with a semester abroad at the University of Pisa, attending courses in regional economics and spatial econometrics. In his Master’s he focused on Public Economics and worked as a student assistant at the Chair of Public Finance and Economic Policy. His thesis dealt empirically with the impact of tax avoidance strategies of multinational companies on product market competition.

Fabian Knorre joined the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics in October 2016. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Statistics at TU Dortmund University with a focus on econometrics. During his studies he spent one semester abroad at the Department of Economics at the University of Copenhagen. In his master thesis Fabian Knorre analyzed different methods to measure credit rating stability of certain Deutsche Bank customer groups. He worked as a student teaching assistant in statistics and as a student research assistant at the chair of Econometrics and Statistics at the TU Dortmund University. He also gained work experience during internships at Deutsche Bank’s risk division and ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe’s applied mathematics team.

Jennifer Rogmann joined the Ruhr Graduate School in October 2016. She obtained her master’s degree in Economics from Ruhr-University Bochum focusing on microeconometrics, labor economics, and international economics. In her master’s thesis she analyzed the gender wage gap in Germany over time and over the entire distribution, applying unconditional quantile regression models (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Thomas K. Bauer). She worked as a student teaching assistant for Macroeconomics and Statistics II, as well as a student research assistant in the field of international economics and interned at Deutsche Bank and a NGO in Bolivia.

Jan Wickerath joined the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics in October 2016. He obtained a Bachelor and Master degree in Economics from the University of Bonn. In his Master Thesis he analyzed the effects of credit intermediaries on the Euro Area Business Cycle. From 2014 to 2016 he also worked as an Editorial Assistant for the World of Labor project at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) in Bonn.
